It is the seat of the gmina (administrative district) called Gmina Lipinki Łużyckie.[1] It lies approximately 9 kilometres (6 mi) west of Żary and 48 km (30 mi) south-west of Zielona Góra. Before 1945 the area was a part of Germany.
