The Central West covers 11 local government areas (LGAs), including the Bathurst Region, with a total population of around 182,000 people.[3]

Councillor Glenn Floyd left the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party (SFFP) on 13 December 2022 after comments made by party leader Robert Borsak. As a result, SFFP is not recontesting Orange in 2024.[13]
Independent Labor councillor Jeff Whitton is leading an endorsed Labor Party ticket.
