Telephlebiidae was formerly considered a distinct family of dragonflies endemic to eastern and south-western Australia.[1] Recent taxonomic revisions have classified the species previously placed in Telephlebiidae within the family Aeshnidae.
Taxonomy
The family Telephlebiidae was once recognized as a separate family within the order Odonata. However, recent research and taxonomic updates have led to the incorporation of the species previously assigned to Telephlebiidae into the family Aeshnidae. As a result, Telephlebiidae is now considered redundant.[2]
Species which were in the family Telephlebiidae are now recognised both in the Australian Faunal Directory,[3] and in the World Odonata List at the Slater Museum of Natural History,[4] and are considered to be part of the Aeshnidae family.
