Reli Dakar 2011
Reli Dakar 2011 adalah penyelenggaraan ke 32 dari event ini. Balapan ini akan diadakan di Argentina dan Chile untuk tahun ketiga secara berturut-turut dan akan dilakukan dari tanggal 1 hingga 16 Januari. Amaury Sport Organisation dan pemerintah Argentina dan Chile setuju untuk mengembalikan balapan ini ke Amerika Selatan pada 23 Maret 2010.[1]
Reli ini berakhir di Buenos Aires, dengan Vladimir Chagin dari Rusia menciptakan rekor tujuh kemenangan, dengan kendaraak Truk Kamaz, dan menjadi pembalap paling sukses dalam satu kategori dalam sejarah penyelenggaraan.[2] Nasser Al-Attiyah dari Qatar dan Timo Gottschalk dari Jerman menang dalam kategori mobil, memberikan Volkswagen tiga kali kemenangan berturut-turut dalam kategori mobil.[3] Marc Coma dari Spanyol memenangkan gelar ketiganya di Dakar dalam kategori sepeda motor,[3] dan Alejandro Patronelli dari Argentina mengulang kesuksesan saudaranya\ — Marcos Patronelli pada tahun 2010 — untuk memenangkan kategori quad.[4]
Peserta
Reli dakar kali ini diikuti oleh 186 pembalap motor, 38 pembalap quad/ATV, 157 pembalap mobil termasuk seorang pembalap Indonesia bernama Kasih Hanggoro dan navigatornya Iriatna Yudha Satria, dan 74 pembalap truk. Di dalam peserta termasuk juara bertahan masing-masing kelas Marc Coma (motor), Marcos Patronelli (ATV), Carlos Sainz (Mobil), dan Vladimir Chagin (truk).[5]
Rencana rute
Dalam tahun ini, masing-masing kelas di beberapa tahapan (stage) memiliki jalur yang berbeda yang umumnya diberikan utnuk memberikan keamanan bagi pembalap dan mengatasi keterbatasan masing-masing jenis kendaraan. Seluruh jarak dinyatakan dalam satuan kilometer.[6]

Kematian
Total terdapat empat orang tewas dalam kecelakaan yang berhubungan dengan reli Dakar. Seorang penonton wanita berusia 28 tahun tewas setelah tertabrak pembalap yang kehilangan kendali kendaraan pada tahapan pertama, sedangkan dua mekanik tewas dalam insiden listrik terpisah dan seorang pengendara mobil tewas saat mengalami kecelakaan dengan seorang pembalap pada tahapan kesepuluh.[7]
