Shaved Fish var det første samlealbumet til John Lennon basert på tidligere verk. Samleplaten inneholdt singler fra 1969 til 1974. Det betyr at Ingen av de tre avantgardistiske albumene ble inkludert og heller ikke Rock 'n' Roll til tross for at i salgstall var «Stand By Me» en større suksess en flere sanger som kom med. Dette var Lennons eneste samlealbum i hans levetid, og det nest siste albumet han ga ut i live. Rolling Stone omtalte albumet som diffust og som et godt bilde på Lennons forvirrende karriere post-Beatles. Shaved Fish ble ikke en salgssuksess.[1][2]
